Elden Ring Nightreign's First Network Test: A PS5 and Xbox Series X/S Exclusive
Registration for Elden Ring Nightreign's initial network test opens January 10th, 2025, but with a significant limitation: it's exclusive to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. This means less than half of the game's target platforms (PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC) will be included in this beta.
Announced at The Game Awards 2024, Elden Ring Nightreign is a cooperative Soulsborne experience set in The Lands Between, designed for three-player parties. The full game is slated for a 2025 release. This network test, a standard precursor to multiplayer game launches, offers a limited number of participant slots, with the exact number yet undisclosed.
How to Register for the Network Test:
Platform and Multiplayer Limitations:
The network test's exclusivity to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S is noteworthy. Confirmed by FromSoftware, Elden Ring Nightreign will not feature cross-platform multiplayer, meaning players will only be able to interact with others on the same console family. Progress made during the beta is not expected to carry over to the final game. Further betas are possible, but unconfirmed.
The game itself will support solo play and three-player parties only, excluding duo play due to balancing concerns. Whether the network test will include additional gameplay restrictions remains unclear.
