Bandai Namco Unveils Digimon Alysion, Digital Card Game

Bandai Namco is taking another exciting step into the mobile gaming arena with Digimon Alysion, a digital adaptation of the beloved Digimon Card Game. Set to be released on both Android and iOS platforms, this free-to-play game promises to bring the thrill of the card game to your fingertips. While an exact release date remains under wraps, anticipation is building among fans.

The announcement came during the highly anticipated Digimon Con 2025 on March 19th. Alongside this exciting news, Bandai Namco shared updates on other projects, including the continuation of Digimon Liberator with a new arc set to launch in April 2025. They also celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Digimon anime with a special video and unveiled a new project, Digimon Adventure: Beyond, as well as a new RPG titled Digimon Story: Time Stranger for consoles and PC.

If You Play Digimon Card Game, Alysion Isn’t the Same

Digimon Alysion isn't just a direct port of the physical card game. It introduces a unique feature called 'DigiAly' cards, which are exclusive to this digital version, alongside the original cards. Bandai Namco is also expanding the universe with new Digimon and characters, adding fresh elements to the gameplay.

The character lineup showcased on the website features an all-female cast, which is an unusual choice for a digital card game. This direction has sparked some skepticism among fans, particularly those who were hoping for a more faithful adaptation of the physical game.

This isn't Bandai Namco's first foray into Digimon mobile gaming, and their previous attempts have met with mixed success. With two prior failures, there's a cautious optimism surrounding Digimon Alysion. Despite this, the game has piqued my interest, and a closed beta test is reportedly in the works, though details are still scarce.
