Heads up: music streaming giant Spotify encountered a widespread outage this morning, leaving millions of users unable to enjoy their favorite tunes.
According to Downdetector, a site that tracks online service disruptions, reports of Spotify outages started pouring in around 6 a.m. PT today. The flood of complaints continued well into the morning, with many users, including our team at IGN, unable to access the service. Even when we managed to open the app, it stubbornly refused to play any music.
Spotify quickly acknowledged the issue, taking to their official status account on X to reassure users. "We are aware of the outage and working to resolve it as soon as possible," they stated. Additionally, they debunked any rumors about the outage being linked to a security breach, clarifying, "The reports of this being a security hack are false."
