The iconic role-playing game, Breath of Fire IV, has been resurrected on PC, marking a triumphant return 25 years after its initial launch. Originally released on the PlayStation in Japan and North America in 2000, and subsequently in Europe in 2001, the game saw a PC port in Europe and Japan in 2003. This beloved title follows the journey of Ryu, a protagonist distinct from Capcom's other famous Ryu, who possesses the unique ability to transform into a dragon. Alongside a group of warriors, Ryu embarks on a mission to thwart an emperor's plans to annihilate the world.
As part of its ongoing Preservation Program, GOG has meticulously updated Breath of Fire IV to ensure compatibility with modern PCs. The game is now available DRM-free on the GOG platform, fully optimized for Windows 10 and 11. Players can enjoy the game in both English and Japanese, with enhanced graphics thanks to an upgraded DirectX renderer. New display options such as Windowed Mode, V-Sync, Anti-Aliasing, and refined gamma correction enhance the visual experience. Additionally, the audio engine has been upgraded, restoring previously missing environmental sounds and providing new configuration options for an immersive audio experience.
