Slaying monsters is thrilling, but sometimes capturing them is necessary to collect all their parts. Here's your ultimate guide on how to capture monsters in *Monster Hunter Wilds*.
The process of capturing monsters in *Monster Hunter Wilds* is straightforward yet strategic. To start, you'll need to weaken the monster by dealing enough damage. Your trusty Palico will notify you when the monster is vulnerable. Additional indicators include a skull icon appearing over the monster on your minimap, and physical signs like limping or drooling, signaling low HP.
Once the monster is sufficiently weakened, it's time to set your trap. You have two options: a Shock Trap or a Pitfall Trap. Place your chosen trap on the ground and coax the monster into it. As soon as the monster is ensnared, it will be immobilized for a brief period—your perfect opportunity to use Tranq Bombs. Typically, one or two Tranq Bombs will suffice to capture the monster. Alternatively, you can use Tranq Ammo or Tranq Blades, depending on your weapon and preferred playstyle.
Successfully capturing a monster will conclude your quest and transport you back to Base Camp.
While your Palico might occasionally set traps for you, it's wise to come prepared with your own. There are two types of traps at your disposal: Pitfall Traps and Shock Traps. Crafting a Pitfall Trap requires a Trap Tool and either Spiderwebs or Ivy. For a Shock Trap, you'll need a Trap Tool and a Thunderbug Capacitor.
For your Tranq items, you can create a Tranq Bomb using a Sleep Herb and a Parashroom. These Tranq Bombs can then be combined with Throwing Knives to make Tranq Blades or with Normal Ammo to produce Tranq Ammo.
