Chrono Trigger Celebrates 30 Years with Upcoming Projects and a Special Concert
Square Enix has announced the 30th anniversary of the beloved JRPG, Chrono Trigger. To commemorate this milestone, they've promised a series of projects launching throughout the coming year. While details remain scarce, the announcement hints at possibilities beyond a simple game-related celebration.
This news has ignited fervent speculation among fans, many of whom have long awaited a proper remaster or a modern console release. Despite its iconic status as one of the greatest JRPGs ever made, Chrono Trigger has surprisingly never received a full remake or a console release beyond the original PlayStation port in 1999. While available on PC and mobile platforms, a definitive modern version remains a cherished dream for many players. Given Square Enix's history of revisiting its classic titles, hope remains high.
For now, the only confirmed anniversary event is a special livestream concert showcasing Chrono Trigger's legendary soundtrack. This YouTube concert will air on March 14th at 7:00 p.m. PT and continue into the early hours of the following morning.
For those unfamiliar, Chrono Trigger is a groundbreaking time-traveling RPG developed by a legendary team: Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, Dragon Quest mastermind Yuji Horii, and the iconic Dragon Ball artist Akira Toriyama.

This 30th anniversary is a significant event, and although a remake or console port remains unconfirmed, Square Enix's announcement offers a glimmer of hope. Stay tuned to Chrono Trigger's official X page for the latest updates on upcoming projects.
