Your journey to face Uth Duna begins in the **Scarlet Forest** during Chapter 1. After conquering other local threats like Lala Barina and Congalala, you'll rendezvous with Olivia and Erik, who are investigating a nearby dam. As the weather shifts dramatically, Uth Duna emerges during **Mission 1-5: Beyond the Deluge**, signaling the start of your battle to prevent further chaos.

Uth Duna, known as **‘A Feast in the Deep’**, is the apex predator of the Scarlet Forest, appearing when floodwaters rise. To tackle this beast effectively, arm yourself with a **thunder-element weapon**—your first chance to acquire one is from Rey Dau in Mission 2-2. If that's not an option, equip gear or a Talisman like **Water Charm I** to boost your water resistance.
Before you set out, fortify yourself with a hearty meal to maintain your Health and Stamina. Don't forget to pack **Nulberries** to counteract **Waterblight**, the primary status ailment Uth Duna can inflict.
Uth Duna's iridescent fins, known as the **‘Veil’**, provide a temporary boost to its defense but slow its movement. Once you damage these fins, they retract, exposing Uth Duna’s weak points, including its **Head (breakable), Mouth, Tail (breakable), and both Forelegs (both breakable)**. However, without its protective fins, Uth Duna becomes more aggressive, so agility is key, especially in the waterlogged terrain.

In *Monster Hunter Wilds*, you can either capture or kill Uth Duna. To capture, weaken it until it's "tired" or "exhausted," then use a **Shock Trap** or **Pitfall Trap**. Once trapped, deploy a **Tranq Bomb** to complete the capture. Both methods yield different rewards:
