Daredevil: Cold Day in Hell Gives Matt Murdock the Dark Knight Returns Treatment

Daredevil fans are in for a treat! A new Daredevil miniseries, Daredevil: Cold Day in Hell, is launching, reuniting writer Charles Soule and artist Steve McNiven. This series draws inspiration from The Dark Knight Returns, depicting an older, powerless Matt Murdock grappling with his past.

Soule explains this approach allows for a fresh perspective on the character, stripping him down to his core essence. The setting allows for creative freedom, incorporating familiar Marvel elements with a unique twist.

Soule considers this collaboration an evolution of his work with McNiven, comparing their process to "jazz," highlighting the collaborative nature of their creative exchange. The story will feature surprising portrayals of Daredevil's allies and adversaries.

While set in the future, Cold Day in Hell serves as an accessible entry point for new readers, requiring only basic knowledge of Daredevil's background. The series also draws thematic inspiration from Soule's previous Daredevil run, influencing the Daredevil: Born Again series on Disney+. Soule confirms the show incorporates elements from his comic run, including Mayor Fisk and Muse, along with other unexpected thematic connections.
