Elden Ring Nightreign could see a two-player co-op feature added post-launch. In a recent interview with IGN on May 23, Director Junya Ishizaki admitted that the team had initially overlooked the appeal of a duo mode during development.

Currently, Elden Ring Nightreign supports solo play and three-player co-op, automatically matchmaking a third player when two are playing. Ishizaki emphasized that the game was designed with a focus on three-player co-op and the traditional solo experience beloved by Souls fans, inadvertently sidelining the two-player aspect.

"We concentrated so much on the three-player and solo experience that we neglected the potential of duos," Ishizaki said. "However, we are now considering adding this feature in our post-launch updates."

Difference Between Playing Solo and Trio

Although a native two-player mode isn't available, players can choose to play solo if they prefer not to engage in three-player co-op. The game is primarily built for three players, raising questions about solo play difficulty. Ishizaki reassured that while the game encourages solo play as part of its natural gameplay loop, adjustments have been made to cater to solo players.

"Each player operates independently in the game," Ishizaki explained. "For solo players, we've tuned down the aggressiveness and number of enemies to prevent overwhelming multi-foe encounters. However, solo play remains more challenging without teammates to revive you, which is why we've included self-revive items scattered throughout the map."

Executor Character Trailer

As Elden Ring Nightreign nears its release, FromSoftware introduced the seventh Nightfarer, Executor, via a Twitter (X) post on May 26. Described as a "condemned warrior wielding a cursed katana blade," Executor was previously featured in the game’s 10-minute overview trailer.

FromSoftware released a dedicated character trailer for Executor, showcasing his unique abilities and how he interacts with the world of Limveld. Executor's passive ability, Tenacity, grants him a boost upon being cleansed of status effects. His character skill, Cursed Sword, allows him to enter a special stance to deflect enemy attacks. His Ultimate Art, Aspects of the Crucible: Beast, transforms him into a Primordial Beast, enabling him to devastate the battlefield.

Global Release Timings Revealed

FromSoftware shared the official global release schedule for Elden Ring Nightreign on Twitter (X) on May 23. Players can refer to their post to find out the exact launch times in their respective regions.

The release times may vary by several hours between console and PC in certain areas. For instance, in the PDT timezone, the PC version will be available on May 29 at 3:00 PM, six hours before the console version. Pre-loading will be available 48 hours before launch on all platforms, allowing players to download and jump right into the game upon release.
