The curtains have fallen on Evil Dead: The Game, the asymmetric multiplayer title inspired by the iconic action horror franchise. Launched in 2022 across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms, the game received an 8/10 from IGN, praised for its thrilling cat-and-mouse gameplay, though noted for its rough edges. Despite the release of a Game of the Year Edition the following year, the title struggled to maintain player engagement. The cancellation of the Nintendo Switch version and the halt in content development in September 2023 signaled early signs of its demise. Now, three years post-launch, Evil Dead: The Game is no longer available for purchase, as its publisher has begun pulling it from digital storefronts. However, existing players can breathe a sigh of relief as the servers will remain online, allowing them to continue their adventures.

Saber Interactive, both the developer and publisher, confirmed this move on the game's Steam page, stating:

We can confirm we've begun the process of removing the game from digital storefronts. Anyone who has purchased the game will still be able to play it as we plan to keep our servers online for everyone.

We want to extend a sincere thank you to our community, to those who have been part of the game from the very beginning, and those who have recently joined us. We appreciate all of your support.

The decision has sparked a wave of negative reviews on the game's Steam page, with many players mourning the game's effective end, despite it retaining a 'mixed' user review rating overall. One dedicated player with over 380 hours of gameplay left a poignant positive review, stating, "The end is nigh. It was fun while it lasted, lads. I mean that."

Saber Interactive, fresh off the success of last year's Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, is not slowing down. The studio is currently working on several exciting projects, including John Carpenter's Toxic Commando, Jurassic Park Survival, and an untitled Avatar: The Last Airbender game. Fans of the studio can also look forward to Turok: Origins and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3.
