In India, the thrill of playing cricket in tight alleys, or 'gullies,' often surpasses the joy of playing on a traditional field. Capturing this unique experience, an indie Indian studio named 5th Ocean Studios has launched their latest cricket game, Gully Gangs: Street Cricket, into Open Beta on Android.
Gully Gangs: Street Cricket breaks the mold with its innovative 4v4 multiplayer format set in the heart of Indian neighborhoods. The game's setting in narrow alleys, known locally as 'gullies,' brings a fresh twist to cricket gaming. Players can experience the excitement of rooftop catches, navigate around scooters, and even deal with the humorous interruptions of nosy uncles scolding them for breaking windows. Adding to the fun, the game also supports 1v1 matches, ensuring variety in gameplay.
The game enhances player interaction with features like power moves and voice chat, allowing players to communicate, taunt opponents, send emojis in the midst of matches, and engage in playful trickery. The environments are authentically Indian, with live neighborhood action surrounding you, including playing with broken stumps, on makeshift pitches, and experiencing wild ball bounces off uneven surfaces.
Customization is at the forefront of Gully Gangs: Street Cricket, where players can form and personalize their gangs with unique, funky outfits and unlock various skins, adding a personal touch to their gaming experience.
Currently in Open Beta, 5th Ocean Studios is committed to enriching Gully Gangs: Street Cricket with future updates. Players can look forward to new street maps, fresh outfits, regular events, clan wars, and even an esports mode. The game will introduce leaderboards, daily and weekly challenges, and intense gang vs. gang matchups.
At the moment, Gully Gangs: Street Cricket is exclusive to Android, but plans are in place to expand to iOS and Steam. The developers are also working on full controller support and cross-platform features. To dive into the action, you can download the game from the Google Play Store.
