The Magic: The Gathering Final Fantasy chapter is winding down, yet card prices for the Universes Beyond set continue to fluctuate.

Edge of Eternities launches next week in prerelease, introducing new cards to the standard rotation and shaking up Commander rules by allowing Legendary Vehicles as Commanders.

For a final look at Final Fantasy’s impact, here are the key risers and fallers, based on data from TCGPlayer.

Since the release of Final Fantasy’s Universes Beyond set, cards tied to counter mechanics have seen price surges, driven by the Tidus-led FFX deck, which emphasizes counters.

Filigree Vector, from the March of the Machine set, is a standout. This four-cost White Artifact Creature enters with +1/+1 counters and can proliferate, making it a perfect match for Tidus’s Blitzball deck. Its price has jumped from a few dollars to about $15.

Another winner, Magistrate’s Scepter, a three-cost artifact from Core Set 2019, gains charge counters to unlock extra turns. With Tidus’s ability to quickly stack counters, its value has risen from pennies to around $5.

Beyond counters, Stoneforge Mystic is climbing fast. This two-cost card, ideal for the equipment-focused Limit Break deck, helps players fetch equipment efficiently. Its price has soared from under $20 to around $50, sometimes higher.

Similarly, Codsworth, Handy Helper from the Universes Beyond: Fallout set holds steady at about $20, showing sustained demand.

Looking ahead, Thrumming Hivepool from Edge of Eternities is poised to shine in Slivers decks. It reduces costs based on Sliver types, grants double strike and haste, and spawns Sliver tokens during upkeep, enabling rapid army-building in mid-to-late game.

Falling Fast: Price Drops

Last week, Vivi Ornitier saw a brief price recovery after a dip, but Harmonic Prodigy, a great complement to Vivi, continues to slide, now at around $10. It remains a strong pick for Wizard-based spellcaster decks.

As the Final Fantasy era wraps up, other cards are cooling off. Summon: Knights of Round, a fan-favorite for White decks, peaked in June but has settled at about $30, with potential for further declines.

Bahamut, another Summon, has dropped to around $26 and continues to trend downward. With its 9/9 stats and game-ending potential, it’s still a card to watch.

Lastly, Tifa Lockhart has fallen to roughly $5, down from $10 just weeks ago, marking a significant retreat for this once-hot card.
