In an exciting update for Monster Hunter Wilds, director Yuya Tokuda has detailed the upcoming Ver. 1.011 update set for May 28. This update promises "an abundance of new features and changes to the game," including a thrilling collaboration with Street Fighter 6.
In his latest Director's Letter, Tokuda expressed the team's commitment to enhancing the gameplay experience. "We wanted to provide more great content for you to enjoy as well as make various adjustments to make Monster Hunter Wilds even more fun to play," he stated. A highlight of the update is the introduction of Street Fighter's Akuma as a new challenger. Players can look forward to the full Arkuma armor set and layered armor. When equipped, these sets will add three unique items to your item bar: assisted combo Akuma, Drive Impact, and Gou Hadoken. For more detailed information, visit the official Monster Hunter website.
The Ver. 1.011 update also introduces eight-star "challenging" monsters, available to hunt at HR 41 and above. These include Gore Magala, Rey Dau, Uth Duna, Nu Udra, and Jin Dahaad. These new monsters offer alternative hunting options to the seven-star tempered monsters like Arkveld, but with increased health, wound resistance, and tweaked multiplayer scaling. Tokuda highlighted Tempered Gore Magala as a particularly tough challenge, even for seasoned hunters. Expect more high-difficulty quests and encounters with multiple monsters as your Hunter Rank increases.
Alongside the new content, a series of "player-centric balance adjustments" are planned for both Ver. 1.011 and Title Update 2. Weapons like the Hammer, Hunting Horn, Gunlance, Light Bowgun, and Heavy Bowgun have undergone various adjustments. "Certain aspects" for Gunlance Artian weapons have been enhanced. While some parameters have been adjusted downward, others have been increased, expanding the possibilities for all weapon types. Tokuda encouraged players to explore these changes once the update is live, noting additional improvements to the Hammer and Dual Blades.
Quality of Life (QoL) tweaks include the ability to rest in the Grand Hub and Suja, Peaks of Accord, which restores all destroyed Pop-up Camps. Additionally, a confirmation window will no longer appear when obtaining an item with a full item pouch; the item will automatically be sent to your item box. The visibility of meal effect duration has been improved, with a countdown appearing 10 minutes before expiration. All notifications have been adjusted to reduce frequency and prioritize higher-priority targets in the environment overview, ensuring they no longer block map access.
Tokuda also reiterated the feature allowing players to view captured endemic life in the Windward Plains via the Ecological Research's "Check Endemic Life" option. Players can view details such as names, sizes, and weights of fish caught, and favorite creatures to keep them even when exceeding storage limits. Each creature can have unique patterns, encouraging players to use this feature to preserve their favorites.
Stability improvements, particularly on Steam, are also on the horizon. With the introduction of eight-star monsters, rewards for eight-star investigations and field surveys have been increased. Guild Point rewards for fishing have been "rebalanced," though specifics are yet to be disclosed.
