MultiVersus to Conclude Operations After Season 5

Warner Bros. Games has announced the impending closure of MultiVersus, its popular platform fighter, following the completion of its fifth and final season. The game's official channels revealed on January 31, 2025, that the servers will power down on May 30, 2025.

Season 5: A Final Farewell

The final season, launching February 4, 2025, will introduce Aquaman and Lola Bunny as playable characters, both unlockable through gameplay. All Season 5 content will be accessible before the shutdown. Following the season's conclusion, MultiVersus will be removed from all digital storefronts (PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store). The reasons behind the shutdown remain unstated.

Offline Play Option

Players can preserve their MultiVersus experience by downloading the latest version of the game between February 4th and May 30th. This will enable offline play via local mode, supporting solo play against AI or multiplayer with up to three friends. A local save file will be created, linking to existing online accounts and preserving all earned and purchased content.

Microtransactions Halted

Real-money transactions for Gleamium, the in-game premium currency, ceased on January 31, 2025. Remaining Gleamium balances can be used until Season 5 ends.

A Short but Action-Packed Run

MultiVersus launched its public beta in July 2022, quickly gaining popularity as a free-to-play platform fighter. Following a relaunch in May 2024 with significant updates, including new characters and rollback netcode, the game faced ongoing challenges, including technical issues and player count decline.

Despite the game's closure, the developers expressed gratitude for the community's support. MultiVersus will remain available for download until May 30, 2025, offering 35 playable characters from diverse franchises. The game will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
