Players assume the role of Volepain, an anthropomorphic shoebill thief plagued by grim visions after procuring a mysterious artifact. Your decisions will shape branching storylines leading to multiple possible endings.

The gameplay revolves around a custom card system representing various character abilities. You'll navigate through environmental puzzles and tactical card battles while balancing strategic resource management.

Foretales offers multiple problem-solving approaches: diplomatic negotiations, stealth maneuvers, or outright combat. Your actions build either fame or infamy, affecting how NPCs interact with you - sometimes allowing clever solutions like frightening enemies with forged documents rather than direct confrontation.
