Home > News > Oscar Isaac Exits Star Wars Event, MCU Fans Speculate Moon Knight in Avengers: Doomsday
Hold onto your seats, Marvel fans! Rumors are swirling that Oscar Isaac could be reprising his role as Moon Knight in the upcoming blockbuster Avengers: Doomsday. The speculation kicked off after Star Wars Celebration announced that Isaac would miss the event in Japan due to a shift in his production schedule. Initially, fans were buzzing about a potential return as Poe Dameron, especially after Daisy Ridley's announcement at Star Wars Celebration 2023. However, with Avengers: Doomsday currently filming in London, whispers of Moon Knight joining the Avengers are getting louder.
Social media erupted with fans connecting the dots:

Despite the excitement, it's important to note that this is still just a theory. Isaac's name was not included in the official cast reveal for Avengers: Doomsday. However, Marvel Studios producer Kevin Feige hinted at more surprises during a video call at CinemaCon, saying, "We revealed many, not all." So, while nothing is confirmed, the possibility remains tantalizingly open.
Isaac previously starred in a six-episode season of Moon Knight released in 2022, but Marvel has yet to announce a second season. Avengers: Doomsday is slated for release on May 1, 2026, promising a spectacular lineup of returning heroes and new faces, as showcased in the epic livestream.
In other Marvel news, fans have also been speculating about Robert Downey Jr.'s recent Doctor Doom-themed birthday invitation, adding more fuel to the rumor mill.
Meanwhile, last month's Avengers: Doomsday cast reveal included a heavy dose of veteran X-Men actors, such as Kelsey Grammer (Beast), Patrick Stewart (Charles Xavier/Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), and James Marsden (Cyclops). This has led many to wonder if Avengers: Doomsday could secretly be an Avengers vs. X-Men movie. With Grammer already making his MCU debut in The Marvels' post-credits scene and Stewart appearing in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the crossover potential is immense.
