A Record-Breaking Unboxing Livestream
On November 26, 2024, The Pokémon Company achieved a new Guinness World Record for the longest unboxing livestream, celebrating the launch of the Pokémon TCG's Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks expansion.
The 24-hour Twitch livestream featured prominent figures like Serebii's Joe Merrick, PokeGirl Ranch, and Mayplaystv. This trio opened over 1,500 booster packs and other Pokémon products, resulting in a staggering 20,000+ cards, as confirmed by the official Pokémon Press website.
Peter Murphy, Senior Director of Marketing at The Pokémon Company International, expressed his excitement: “An incredible 24 hours of pack opening! We're thrilled to have achieved this ambitious GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title with such a fantastic team of creators.”
The celebration continues! The Pokémon Press website promises further giveaways on participating content creators' channels within the next two weeks. The collected cards will be organized and donated to charities, including Barnardo’s in the UK, before the holidays.
Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks Expansion
Released November 8, 2024, the Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks expansion transports players to the Terarium, a key location in the Pokémon SV Indigo Disk DLC Part 2. The expansion introduces powerful Stellar Tera Pokémon ex, including Archaludon ex with its formidable Metal Defender ability.
Iconic dragon-type Pokémon like Palkia, Dialga, Eternatus, Alolan Exeggutor ex, and Tatsugiri ex also feature prominently. Tropical-themed Illustration Rare and Special Illustration Rare cards, showcasing Alolan Dugtrio and Feebas in serene ocean settings, add a relaxing touch. New Tera Pokémon ex like Pallossand ex and Flygon ex further enhance deck-building options.
This expansion is also available on the Pokémon TCG Live app, offering digital players in-game bonuses for collecting and battling with the new Stellar Tera Pokémon ex.
