According to journalist Jason Schreier, the acclaimed Rocksteady Studios is developing a new single-player Batman game. Details are limited, with no confirmation whether it's a prequel, sequel to the Arkham series, or a completely new story. However, an insider suggests it's a Batman Beyond title, setting the game in a futuristic Gotham and potentially launching a full trilogy for next-generation consoles.

The Arkham series was celebrated for its stunning visuals, and a futuristic Gotham could be Rocksteady's most impressive achievement yet. The Batman Beyond setting also addresses the challenge of replacing the iconic voice of Kevin Conroy, who passed away in 2022. This shift allows the focus to be on Terry McGinnis or Damian Wayne, similar to Warner Bros. Montreal's plans for a cancelled Arkham Knight sequel.

Rocksteady's previous project, an online shooter, underperformed, leading to the cancellation of post-launch content and a rushed animated conclusion that retconned controversial plot points by revealing fallen heroes were clones.

Now, Rocksteady returns to its strengths with a new solo Batman adventure. However, sources indicate this project is still several years from release.
