Squad Busters 2.0 Hits Android Before First Anniversary!

Squad Busters is celebrating its first anniversary with the launch of its monumental update, Squad Busters 2.0, set to roll out on May 13th. Since its debut in 2024, the game has struggled to capture the massive following that Supercell had hoped for. With this significant update, the developers are aiming to turn things around and breathe new life into the game.

This Isn’t Just a Tweak or Two

Squad Busters 2.0 isn't just a minor update; it's a complete overhaul, essentially rebooting the game. The core mechanics, from battle dynamics to victory conditions, are undergoing a major transformation.

One of the most significant changes is the introduction of Heroes. Players will now select a Hero to lead their squad into battle. These Heroes are based on existing characters, and if your Hero falls in combat, it's game over for you. This adds a new layer of strategy and importance to your choice of leader.

Combat mechanics are also being revamped. Gone are the days of stopping to fight; now, movement and combat are seamlessly integrated, making for more dynamic, fast-paced, and intense battles. This change aims to keep players engaged and on their toes throughout the match.

The way victories are achieved is also changing. Instead of needing to eliminate every opponent on the board, your primary goal is now to take down the enemy Hero. While this shift has drawn comparisons to Brawl Stars, it's designed to streamline gameplay and focus on key confrontations.

Squad Busters 2.0 Is Dumping a Lot of Old Features

To make way for these new elements, several existing game modes are being removed, including Doppelgangers, Double Trouble, Epic Overload, Loot Machines, and Hatchling Herder. Additionally, some older skins and progression systems are being phased out. Supercell plans to compensate players with Hero Points and other in-game items to ease the transition.

It's clear why Supercell is pushing these changes so aggressively. Squad Busters hasn't yet reached the popularity levels of other Supercell hits like Clash of Clans or Brawl Stars.

With the first anniversary approaching on May 29th, Supercell is pulling out all the stops to reignite player interest. They're planning a series of daily piñata events to celebrate, which will offer players the chance to unlock a new Hero, Mortis.
