Nintendo has announced that the Switch 2 has become the company's fastest-selling hardware globally, with over 3.5 million units sold in its first four days.

Nintendo shared the news on Twitter/X, stating: "#NintendoSwitch2 has sold over 3.5 million units worldwide in its first four days, making it the fastest-selling Nintendo hardware ever globally."

This impressive figure was largely achieved due to the ample supply of Switch 2 units—a notable improvement compared to past hardware shortages faced by Nintendo and its competitors. It aligns with comments from Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser, who assured that sufficient stock would meet U.S. demand, which has indeed proven strong.

By comparison, the original Nintendo Switch sold 2.74 million units in its first month.

This achievement follows a recent report from The Game Business stating that the Switch 2 has become the fastest-selling Nintendo console in UK history, surpassing the previous record held by the Nintendo 3DS.

In our ongoing Nintendo Switch 2 review, we noted: "So far, the sequel is what we expected: an iterative upgrade that modernizes many outdated features, enhances numerous design details in subtle but meaningful ways, and introduces an impressive new control option that doesn’t quite perform as smoothly as anticipated."
