The game uses a 52-card deck, dealing 13 cards per player. Spade cards are trump cards.

In swamp trump spades, only spades can be called as trump.

The goal is to predict the number of hands you’ll win before the game begins and aim to meet or exceed that number.

Starting with the player to the right of the Dealer, each player declares their predicted hands, recorded on the scoreboard.

Play:

The next player plays any card if no card is on the table; otherwise, they must match the color of the card played.

If no matching card is available, play a trump card; if none, play any card.

Scoring:

At the round’s end, scores are calculated based on the hands committed and received.

If a player meets or exceeds their committed hands:

10 x Committed hands + (hands received - committed hands) points.

If a player falls short of their committed hands:

-10 x Committed hands points.

At the round’s end, a player who bids zero hands:

+50 points if no hands are won, -50 points if any hands are won.

Settling means failing to achieve the number of hands bid at the game’s end.
