Battle of Sudoku: A Multiplayer Sudoku Showdown

Love Sudoku and crave a competitive edge? Battle of Sudoku pits you against other players or teams in a thrilling multiplayer experience. The core objective remains the same: fill a 9x9 grid with digits ensuring each row, column, and 3x3 subgrid contains all numbers from 1 to 9.

Before diving in, customize your challenge by selecting a difficulty level (1-6) in the game options. Level 1 is the easiest, while 6 presents the toughest challenge. This setting determines the number of pre-filled digits, impacting the overall puzzle complexity. All players begin with the identical puzzle.

Gameplay Modes:

The game offers two modes, configurable in the game options:

• Show Opponent's Correct Numbers: Each correct number placed is visible to all players. Correct entries earn points, but you can't duplicate another player's correct number. Speed and accuracy are key to maximizing your score.
• Hide Opponent's Correct Numbers: Players' correct numbers are hidden. This allows for simultaneous placement of the same numbers, creating a different competitive dynamic.

Time-Outs:

Incorrect entries result in a time-out, temporarily disabling your ability to make moves while others continue. The time-out duration is customizable in the game options (default: 30 seconds).

Scoring:

Correct numbers earn points, with higher difficulty levels awarding more points per correct entry. Incorrect entries incur a point penalty (half the value of a correct entry).

Winning the Game:

The game concludes when the puzzle is completely solved. The player with the highest score wins. If "Show Opponent's Correct Numbers" is disabled, the game ends when a single player solves the puzzle, although this doesn't grant extra points; others can still win with fewer mistakes.

Team vs. Individual Play:

Engage in team-based competition! Select your team (1 or 2) upon joining a game. Teams of at least two players collaborate to achieve a combined high score. Notes and filled colors are shared within teams, fostering cooperative strategies.

Solving Tools:

A toolbar provides helpful tools:

• Pen Tool: Add notes to squares using the pen icon. Multiple notes can be added to a single square. Existing numbers can be removed.
• Fill Mode: Change the background color of any square (including solved ones) using the paint bucket icon.
