Known by various names such as MindiKot, Mendhi Coat, Mindi Multiplayer, and Dehla Pakad (which translates to "Collect the tens"), Mindi is a beloved pastime in India, enjoyed for countless hours with family and friends. The game's objective is to win tricks containing tens, making it both interactive and addictive.
Designed for four players split into two partnerships sitting opposite each other, Mindi uses a standard 52-card deck. The player who draws the highest card becomes the first dealer, who then shuffles and deals 13 cards to each player. The game offers two exciting modes for unlimited fun:
- Hide Mode: The player to the dealer's right selects a card and places it face down on the table. This card determines the trump suit for that round.
- Cut Mode: If no trump suit is chosen initially, the first player unable to follow suit during play determines the trump suit for the round.
In both modes, the highest trump card played wins the trick. If no trump is played, the highest card of the suit led wins. The trick winner leads the next trick, and captured tricks are kept in a face-down pile.
A partnership wins the hand by capturing three or four of the Tens. Capturing all four Tens is known as a Mendicot, a significant achievement in the game.
