Pesten With Cards, known as Bullying With Cards in English, is a beloved Dutch card game that shares similarities with games like Mau-Mau, Crazy Eights, Shedding, Puque, Чешский Дурак, Фараон, Крокодил, Tschau Sepp, and Uno. The primary objective of Pesten With Cards is to be the first to shed all of your cards. A crucial rule is that the winner must announce "Last Card" before playing their final card. Failure to do so results in a penalty of drawing two additional cards.
The game can be played with multiple decks, including jokers. Each player starts with 7 cards, and the remaining cards form the stockpile, with the top card turned face-up to start the discard pile. Gameplay proceeds clockwise, and if the initial card revealed is a "Pest-card," the dealer must execute its action as if they had played it.
During your turn, you must play a card matching the number or suit of the top card on the discard pile. Jokers and Jacks are exceptions and can be played on any card. If you can't play, you must draw a card from the stockpile. If the drawn card is playable, you have the option to play it immediately or keep it in your hand.
When you're down to your last card, you must click the "Last Card" button above your cards to announce it. Forgetting to do so before playing your final card incurs a two-card penalty, and your last card won't be played. Incorrectly announcing "Last Card" also results in a two-card penalty. You can press the "Last Card" button anytime, even when it's not your turn, to ensure you don't forget.
Winning the round involves playing your last card on the discard pile, but it cannot be a special card, as outlined below.
Special cards in Pesten With Cards trigger specific actions based on their number or type. Actions can vary, and the game allows customization of these actions in the options menu. Here are the default actions:
Joker: The next player must draw 5 cards. If they play another Joker, the following player draws 10 cards, and so on, with each Joker adding 5 more cards to the draw penalty. Players drawing cards cannot play them immediately; the next player proceeds.
Two: The next player must draw 2 cards. Playing another Two increases the penalty by 2 more cards. If enabled, a Joker can be played on a Two, adding an additional 5 cards to the penalty. However, a Two cannot be played on a Joker. Players drawing cards cannot play them immediately.
Seven: You must play another card on top of the Seven. If you can play your last card, remember to say "Last Card." If unable to play, you must draw a card from the stockpile.
Eight: The next player skips their turn, and the player after that plays. In a two-player game, playing an Eight allows you to play another card immediately, similar to a Seven.
Ten: All players must pass one card from their hand to the player on their left. Click on the card you wish to pass.
