Ubisoft has unveiled an exciting roadmap for the first year of post-launch content for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, promising a wealth of new features and updates to keep players engaged. In a detailed four-and-a-half-minute video update released today, Ubisoft outlined a specific schedule for May and June, showcasing their commitment to delivering free updates throughout 2025 to enhance the gaming experience for fans of the latest stealth-action title.

The content rollout kicks off in early May with the first free story add-on, The Works of Luis Frois. This update will be accompanied by a Codex update and several quality-of-life improvements, including significant enhancements to parkour mechanics and a photo mode update. Ubisoft emphasizes that these updates are a direct response to community feedback, demonstrating their ongoing commitment to refining Assassin’s Creed Shadows based on player input.
“Your feedback has been a core focus of the team throughout development, and that’s not stopping now that Shadows is released,” said community developer Daniel St. Germain in the video. He highlighted that regular title updates will include impactful additions and changes, along with bug fixes to ensure a polished experience across all platforms.
In June, players can look forward to another free story drop, along with more challenging difficulty settings, gameplay immersion options, an open-world alarm system, and the ability to toggle headgear visibility during cutscenes. These updates are just the beginning, as Ubisoft plans to introduce new game+ support, additional story content, special collaborations, and more throughout the year.
The highlight of the post-launch roadmap is the first major DLC expansion, Claws of Awaji, set to release later in the year. This expansion will feature new content, including the Bo staff weapon and a new region for protagonists Naoe and Yasuke to explore, offering a 10-hour journey. While pricing details are yet to be announced, the expansion will be free for those who pre-ordered Assassin’s Creed Shadows before its launch last month.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows launched on March 20 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, bringing Ubisoft’s iconic stealth series to the setting of Feudal Japan. The game has already made a significant impact, securing a spot on our list of the best games of 2025 so far and becoming the best-selling game of last month.
