Pre-order details for Borderlands 4 confirm a $70 base price, putting to rest speculation about an $80 launch. Explore the pricing discussion and discover what each game edition offers.
Gearbox Software has officially revealed Borderlands 4's pricing as pre-orders went live. On June 16, the official Borderlands Twitter account announced the game's availability across all platforms.
The announcement confirmed pricing tiers: $70 for Standard Edition, $100 for Deluxe Edition, and $130 for Super Deluxe Edition - definitively ending rumors about an $80 base price.

This confirmation follows weeks of speculation fueled by Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford's ambiguous statements. On May 14, Pitchford responded to pricing inquiries by suggesting "real fans" would adapt to potential $80 pricing, sparking backlash.
The controversy continued until Pitchford clarified on May 29: "I sincerely don't want anyone paying more than they're comfortable with. My goal is always ensuring players feel they received good value."

Despite Pingford's explanation, many fans remained uneasy about his initial "real fans" remark. The confirmed $70 pricing has helped alleviate some concerns among the Borderlands community.
