Following the resounding success of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Sandfall Interactive is exploring the potential for a release on the upcoming Switch 2. In a recent interview with French YouTuber mistermv on May 2, Guillaume Broche, the director of Expedition 33, discussed the studio's future plans in the wake of their successful launch.
Broche expressed that the game's achievements have significantly altered their perspective, stating, "Well, at this point, considering the success of the game, it kind of changes everything." This success has opened up numerous opportunities, and the team is currently evaluating which paths to pursue.
When questioned about the prospects of a Switch 2 release, Broche indicated that while it's too early to confirm, the idea is certainly intriguing. "So clearly, it's too early to say, but we're kind of in a situation where... let's say there are a lot of opportunities showing up - way too many at once - and we're figuring out what we'll go for and what we won't. But yeah, it's definitely something that could be interesting," he elaborated.
Given the anticipation surrounding the Switch 2 and the acclaim Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has received as a top-rated game of the year, a port to Nintendo’s new handheld console seems like a fitting move. Fans eagerly await confirmation on whether they can experience this Belle Époque-inspired turn-based RPG on the new device.
Amidst the flurry of opportunities and requests, Sandfall Interactive has also been approached about creating official merchandise, particularly for the beloved character Esquie. However, they have yet to launch any official merchandise and have issued warnings about counterfeit items circulating online.
In a Twitter (X) post on May 14, the studio cautioned fans about suspicious websites selling Esquie plushies, stating, "To be clear: any third-party websites selling Esquie plushies are NOT officially licensed." They highlighted that many of these bootleg items feature AI-generated artwork and could be scams, urging fans to avoid them.
On a more positive note, Sandfall Interactive announced their plans to produce official Esquie plushies. Their tweet read, "But here’s the wheee to balance out the whooo: we are looking into making official Esquie plushies, and we want to bring them to you as soon as we can. In the meantime, please be patient — and don’t get scammed!"
The excitement around Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 continues to grow, and fans can look forward to official merchandise in the near future. The game is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Stay tuned for more updates by clicking on our article below!
