Cursed Objects (also known as "Cursed Possessions") are randomly generated items in Phasmophobia, appearing on various maps depending on game mode and settings. Activation requires locating and interacting with them within the location.

Unlike standard in-van equipment, Cursed Objects offer gameplay advantages ("cheats") at a cost. Benefits like pinpointing the ghost's preferred room or boosting your team are offset by drawbacks such as rapid sanity loss, temporary blindness, or unexpected "cursed" hunt encounters. Strategic use is crucial; sometimes, avoiding them is the wiser choice. Note that Cursed Objects won't appear at all difficulty levels or in Challenge Mode.

Currently, seven Cursed Objects exist in Phasmophobia, each with unique abilities and debilitating effects. A common consequence is substantial sanity depletion for the user. Proximity to the user increases the likelihood of a "cursed hunt" immediately following activation.

Cursed Hunts mirror regular hunts but disregard sanity levels and can occur even after a recent hunt. Their extended duration (20 seconds longer) presents increased challenges in escape or concealment, particularly at higher difficulty settings.

The following table details each Cursed Object and its mechanics. This list will be updated with future additions.

Some Cursed Objects offer greater benefits with reduced risk. Availability depends on game mode and difficulty.

Haunted Mirror

The Haunted Mirror is the safest option, providing significant advantages with minimal risk. It reveals the ghost's favored room, expediting evidence gathering. However, prolonged use lowers sanity and shattering it triggers a Cursed Hunt.

Ouija Board

A reliable choice, the Ouija Board helps pinpoint the ghost's location and, if aiming for a "Perfect Investigation," reveals the bone's location.

Voodoo Doll

Useful for triggering ghost interactions for evidence gathering, but avoid the heart pin to prevent a Cursed Hunt.
