In the last decade, the dream of playing online across different platforms has become a reality, significantly uniting the *Call of Duty* community. However, crossplay isn't without its drawbacks. Here's a detailed guide on how to disable crossplay in *Black Ops 6* and what you need to consider.

Should You Disable Crossplay in Black Ops 6?

Disabling crossplay in *Black Ops 6* is a decision that comes with both advantages and disadvantages. The primary reason players opt to disable crossplay is to level the playing field, ensuring a more uniform and equitable gaming experience. For console players on Xbox and PlayStation, the motivation often stems from wanting to avoid competing against PC players.

If you're playing on a console, you might consider turning off crossplay because PC players use a different control method with a mouse and keyboard. This setup can provide a significant advantage, as aiming with a mouse offers greater precision compared to using a controller. Additionally, PC players might have easier access to mods and cheats. Despite *Call of Duty*'s Ricochet Anti-Cheat system, *Black Ops 6* and *Warzone* players have reported encountering hackers and cheaters. Disabling crossplay could theoretically reduce the number of cheaters in your matches.

However, there's a significant downside to disabling crossplay in *Call of Duty*: it shrinks the pool of players available for matchmaking. This reduction can make it harder to find matches, and when you do, the connection quality might suffer. In our tests with crossplay disabled, we found that it often took longer to find games, and the lobbies tended to have poorer connections.

How To Turn Off Crossplay in Black Ops 6

Turning off Crossplay in Black Ops 6Disabling crossplay in *Black Ops 6* is a straightforward process. You'll find the Crossplay and Crossplay Communications toggle at the top of the Account & Network settings. Simply navigate to these settings and press X or A to switch the setting from On to Off. You can do this within *Black Ops 6*, *Warzone*, or from the main *Call of Duty* HQ page. Note that in the image above, we accessed the Crossplay setting by adding it to Quick Settings for easy access.

After adjusting the setting, you might notice it becomes greyed out and locked at times. This happens in certain modes like Ranked Play, where *Call of Duty* has previously enforced crossplay to promote fairness, though the results can be mixed. Fortunately, from Season 2 of *Black Ops 6*, players will have the option to disable crossplay, giving more control over their competitive experience.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
