Game Informer Returns Under Neill Blomkamp's Studio Ownership

In a heartfelt 'Letter From the Editor,' Game Informer Editor-In-Chief Matt Miller announced that Gunzilla Games, the developer behind the free-to-play extraction battle royale game Off the Grid and the blockchain ecosystem GunZ, has acquired the rights to Game Informer from GameStop. Not only are they bringing back the editorial team, but they're also expanding into "production and beyond." Gunzilla Games, known for their work in Early Access games and their collaboration with renowned director Neill Blomkamp, are set to breathe new life into this beloved gaming publication.

Miller emphasized that Gunzilla Games is committed to maintaining Game Informer as an independent editorial outlet. They believe, just as strongly as the Game Informer team, that the magazine should retain full control over its content and editorial decisions. As a result, Game Informer is now operating under a new entity called Game Informer Inc., ensuring that its over 30-year legacy continues uninterrupted.

To ensure no gap in coverage, the team has prepared "dozens" of new reviews for games released during their hiatus, along with their Best of 2024 awards. Fans can also look forward to the return of the print magazine, which Miller promises will be "bigger and better than it was before." In the coming weeks, Game Informer will introduce membership and subscription benefits, an expanded scope of video, streaming, and feature coverage, and a broader range of expert perspectives and partnerships.
