In a major reveal at today’s Nintendo Direct, Nintendo officially confirmed the launch of its next-generation console, the Nintendo Switch 2, set to arrive on June 5, 2025. This marks a significant milestone for fans eagerly awaiting the successor to the wildly popular original Switch.

The new system will carry a standalone price tag of $449.99, positioning it competitively within the current market. For those looking to dive straight into the action, Nintendo is also offering a special bundle that includes Mario Kart World at a combined price of $499.99.

If you'd rather buy the game separately, the suggested retail price for Mario Kart World is $79.99—a figure that has certainly raised some eyebrows. To put this into context, Nintendo has only launched a handful of $70 titles on the original Switch, including The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Interestingly, the newly announced Donkey Kong Bananza also lands at the same premium price point.
