Square Enix marked NieR’s 15th Anniversary with a range of announcements, including new projects and events. During the April 19 livestream, the company introduced an online Special Novel titled [U]ndecided Option.
The novel will receive three updates, with the first already released and the next two scheduled for April 25 and May 2. Its synopsis describes “a ‘servant’ encountering a mysterious boy and embarking on a guided journey.”
In tandem, Square Enix launched a dedicated NieR 15th Anniversary website, serving as the central hub for the novel and other upcoming anniversary-related projects and events.
Square Enix will host an exhibition at Sunshine City in Ikebukuro, Japan, showcasing fresh artwork of protagonists from Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation. Further details on tickets and logistics will be shared later.
Additional NieR: Orchestra Concert 12024 performances are set for Osaka on July 25 and 26, and Tokyo on August 2 and 3. Tickets are available through a lottery system, with more details on the concert’s official website.
New merchandise includes a jazz arrangement album from NieR: Dinner Show – Somethin’ or Other 12024, set for release in December 2024, a NieR Weapon Story book with over 650 weapon narratives from Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation, and scale figures of the series’ protagonists.

NieR’s debut mobile game, NieR Re[in]carnation, will launch a developer blog series on April 28, with monthly updates planned through the year, exploring the game’s creation process.
Released in January 2021 and discontinued in April 2024 due to monetization challenges, the game’s blog announcement has sparked curiosity. Some fans speculate about a potential sequel or remake, though no official confirmation exists.
The livestream concluded with a 20+ minute live performance of iconic NieR soundtracks. Square Enix promises more events and merchandise announcements for NieR fans in the near future.
