In today's crowded gaming market, finding a truly unique game is a challenge. My Father Lied, however, stands out with its compelling narrative. This mystery/Lovecraftian puzzle adventure boasts a story that sets it apart from the rest.
The game's creation story is fascinating. Ahmed Alameen, the developer, wasn't originally a game developer. In 2020, he was a writer and filmmaker. A college friend initially suggested a collaborative game project, but that partnership dissolved before development began.
Undeterred, Alameen pursued the idea independently, teaching himself 3D modeling and Unreal Engine to bring his vision to life. Even the game's title was a collaborative effort with his wife.
The game itself plunges players into a mystery steeped in ancient Mesopotamian myths, brimming with secrets, puzzles, and surprises.
Players assume the role of Huda, a young woman grappling with a twenty-year-old question: what happened to her father? The answer, as the story unfolds, proves far from straightforward.
Drawing inspiration from 7,000 years of Mesopotamian culture, My Father Lied blends ancient lore with modern storytelling. The gameplay features simple point-and-click mechanics, avoiding complex controls, and showcases beautiful 2D visuals and 360-degree images.
