Daredevil's highly anticipated next season is on the horizon, and the creative team is already envisioning future possibilities, including a potential Defenders reunion.
In a recent EW profile, Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios' head of streaming and TV, expressed keen interest in bringing back the street-level heroes of Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist—the Defenders.
While no concrete plans exist, Winderbaum stated to EW, "It's certainly exciting to be able to play in that sandbox… Obviously, we don't have unlimited storytelling resources like a comic book, [where] if you can draw it, you can do it. We're dealing with actors, time constraints, and the massive scale of production needed to build a cinematic universe, especially on television."
He continued, "But I can say that considering all these factors, it's something creatively very exciting, and we're actively exploring it."
Daredevil: Born Again will directly continue the Netflix Daredevil storyline. Netflix previously hosted its own smaller-scale Marvel universe with shows like Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage. Winderbaum's comments suggest Daredevil: Born Again could serve as a springboard to revive these characters within Disney's MCU framework on Disney+. The inclusion of Jon Bernthal's Punisher in the new season further demonstrates the successful transition of Netflix characters.
The upcoming premiere of Daredevil: Born Again on March 4th will provide crucial insights before further speculation on its potential connections to the broader MCU.
