Though Marvel Rivals is still a relatively new game, the community is buzzing with excitement and speculation about potential new features. Recently, whispers of a possible PvE boss fight have led many to believe that a full-fledged PvE mode might be on the horizon. However, NetEase has clarified that there are no immediate plans for such a mode...yet.

At the DICE Summit in Las Vegas, we had the opportunity to speak with Marvel Rivals producer Weicong Wu about the prospect of a PvE mode. Here's what he shared:

"For now, we don't have any kind of a PvE plan, but our development team is continuously experimenting with new gameplay modes. So if we found that a new specific game mode is entertaining enough, fun enough, we would of course bring it to our audience."

Following Wu's statement, Marvel Games executive producer Danny Koo chimed in, asking if a PvE mode would be something I'd like to see in Marvel Rivals. After expressing my interest, Wu elaborated:

"Yeah, we believe there are some of our audience that would like the PvE mode. But also, you can see that if we come up with a hardcore PvE experience, that will be totally a different distinctive experience from what we have right now. So our development team has been continuously experimenting with different approaches to achieve that goal, maybe a lighter mode, in a lighter sense of that, and to see what would work best for our game."

From these comments, it seems that while there are no solid plans for a PvE mode at the moment, NetEase is exploring the idea of a "lighter" game mode, possibly something akin to a one-off event. The studio remains tight-lipped about further details.

Marvel Rivals continues to evolve with bi-monthly updates, introducing new characters to the roster. The next heroes set to join the fray are the Human Torch and The Thing, scheduled for release on February 21. Additionally, we discussed with Wu and Koo the potential for a Marvel Rivals release on the Nintendo Switch 2, details of which can be found here. We also addressed the issue of fake hero "leaks" in the game's code, confronting the team about whether they were intentionally misleading dataminers.
