Michelle Yeoh Stars in Ark: Survival Ascended's Lost Colony, Teasing Ark 2

The long-awaited dinosaur survival game, Ark 2, which had sparked concerns about potential development issues or even cancellation, has been revitalized with exciting news from Studio Wildcard. The studio has unveiled a new expansion for the Ark: Survival Ascended remake called Ark: Lost Colony, setting the stage for the much-anticipated sequel.

Ark: Lost Colony marks the first original expansion pack for Ark: Survival Ascended. Its captivating reveal trailer, showcased below, was crafted by the renowned anime studio Mappa, known for hits like Jujutsu Kaisen, Attack on Titan, and Chainsaw Man. The trailer features voice acting by the talented Michelle Yeoh, who reprises her role as Mei Yin from Ark: The Animated Series.

Studio Wildcard promises that **Ark: Lost Colony** will boast numerous cinema-grade anime story sequences produced by Mappa. Here’s the official description:

In their press note, Studio Wildcard emphasized that Ark: Lost Colony “directly connects” the narratives of Ark’s Extinction and Genesis expansions, paving the way for the storyline of Ark 2.

Ark 2 is the eagerly awaited sequel to the immensely popular Ark: Survival Evolved, powered by Unreal Engine 5. Initially unveiled with a surprise appearance by Vin Diesel at The Game Awards 2020, it was slated for a 2022 release but faced subsequent delays. It was first pushed to 2023 and then further delayed to late 2024 as an Xbox Series X and S console exclusive, available day-one on Game Pass and on PC via Steam and Windows.

As late as December 2023, Studio Wildcard affirmed that **Ark 2** was still on course for a late 2024 release. However, this timeline was not met, raising concerns among fans. The recent announcement in March 2025 should help alleviate these worries, confirming that **Ark 2** remains in development, though Studio Wildcard did not provide a new release window.

For Ark: Lost Colony, more concrete details have been shared. Pre-orders will commence in June 2025, with immediate access to exclusive preview gameplay content for all buyers. The full release is scheduled for November 2025, with Ark: Lost Colony priced at $29.99 for Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
