Monster Hunter Wilds Hits Nearly 1 Million Concurrent Players on Steam, Set to Grow Further

Monster Hunter Wilds has made a colossal impact upon its release, drawing in nearly 1 million concurrent players on Steam alone. Launched on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, this action-adventure game from Capcom rapidly climbed to become the eighth most-played game on Steam of all time, boasting an impressive peak of 987,482 simultaneous users.

To give you an idea of its success, Monster Hunter Wilds has surpassed the all-time concurrent user peaks of major hits like Elden Ring, Hogwarts Legacy, and Baldur’s Gate 3. It has also eclipsed the peak concurrent player count of its predecessor, Monster Hunter World, which hit 334,684 at its highest point in 2018.

It's important to note that the true peak concurrent player count for Monster Hunter Wilds is likely to be even higher, as neither Sony nor Microsoft release player statistics for their platforms.

Monster Hunter Wilds Weapons Tier List

As Monster Hunter Wilds enters its first weekend on the market, the anticipation is high to see if the Steam concurrent player count can break the 1 million mark, potentially overtaking Cyberpunk 2077. There's even speculation about whether it could reach 2 million concurrent players.

While Capcom has not yet released official sales figures for Monster Hunter Wilds, the game's launch indicates a tremendously successful debut. For context, Monster Hunter World achieved over 25 million sales within six years, establishing itself as Capcom's top-selling title ever. However, it's worth mentioning that Monster Hunter Wilds has received a 'mixed' user review rating on Steam, primarily due to reported performance issues.

IGN's review of Monster Hunter Wilds awarded it an 8/10, stating, "Monster Hunter Wilds continues to smooth off the rougher corners of the series in smart ways, making for some extremely fun fights but also lacking any real challenge."
