The anticipation surrounding the specs of Nintendo's long-rumored Nintendo Switch upgrade has finally been put to rest, and the results are more impressive than many expected. The Nintendo Switch 2 boasts support for 120fps and up to 4K resolution when docked, significantly enhancing the gaming experience.
During today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo unveiled several exciting features of the new console. The Nintendo Switch 2 features a larger 7.9-inch screen compared to its predecessor, maintaining the same thickness of 13.9mm but doubling the pixel count. It supports a 1080p resolution at up to 120fps in handheld mode and includes an LCD screen with HDR capabilities. When docked, the system can handle up to 4K resolution and HDR, promising stunning visuals.
The Joy-Con 2 controllers have been upgraded with magnetic connectivity and a release button for easy detachment. The SL and SR buttons on the sides are larger, improving comfort when playing in horizontal mode, and the analog sticks are also bigger. This segment also officially introduced mouse control support within the Joy-Con controllers, adding a new dimension to gameplay.
The handheld version of the Nintendo Switch 2 comes equipped with a built-in microphone featuring noise-canceling technology and supports 3D audio for compatible games. It also includes a more robust and adjustable stand compared to the original Switch, allowing for various viewing angles. Additionally, a top USB port offers external camera connectivity and the ability to charge the system in tabletop mode.
Nintendo also revealed that the Nintendo Switch 2 will come with 256GB of internal storage, providing ample space for games and applications.
