Nintendo recently shared via their Twitter (X) account that Alarmo, their interactive alarm clock, will be more accessible starting in March 2025. Within the next couple of months, Alarmo will be available at major retailers worldwide, including Target, Walmart, GameStop, and other Nintendo-approved stores.

Excitingly, the requirement for a Nintendo Online membership to purchase Alarmo will be removed, making it accessible to everyone. You can grab the Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo for $99.99 USD.

While fans are thrilled about Alarmo’s expanded availability, the rumor mill continues to churn regarding the potential announcement of the Switch 2. Despite the buzz, Nintendo remains silent on this front.

Nintendo Alarmo Sold Out A Day After Its Announcement

The demand for Alarmo was immediately evident. Just one day after its announcement on October 9, 2024, Nintendo reported a surge in orders. In Japan, sales were halted on the My Nintendo Store, and a lottery system was introduced exclusively for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers to manage the overwhelming demand.

"We have received a large number of orders for the Nintendo Sound Clock Alarmo, which was released on October 9th, so we are currently suspending sales of the product on the My Nintendo Store. In response to this, we are currently preparing to change the sales method at My Nintendo Store to a lottery sale for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers, so please wait for a while. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause to our customers. Furthermore, we will continue to produce the products in order to deliver them to as many customers as possible."

In New York City, Alarmo also sold out quickly, but without a lottery system. Customers were informed that they would be notified once more stock was available.

Nintendo Alarmo Features

Alarmo, launched by Nintendo in 2024, brings beloved game sound effects to your bedside. With soundscapes from iconic titles like Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Splatoon 3, and more, Alarmo offers 42 different scenes from these games. Nintendo plans to expand this collection with free updates, including scenes from Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Once you select a scene, a character from the game appears on Alarmo's screen, waiting patiently. When the alarm sounds, the character awakens and plays a gentle sound. As the alarm progresses, a visitor arrives, and you can wave your hand or move your body to quiet the clock. If you linger in bed too long, a more "persuasive" visitor will appear, and the sound will intensify. The alarm stops only when you get up, thanks to Alarmo’s motion sensor, allowing you to turn it off without touching the device.

Beyond its primary function, Alarmo enhances your sleep environment with hourly chimes and sleep sounds tailored to your chosen scene. It also tracks your sleep patterns, recording your time in bed and movements during sleep.

For shared sleeping spaces with others or pets, Nintendo recommends setting Alarmo to Button Mode. Initially, a Nintendo Online membership was required, but this restriction will be lifted with the expanded release in March 2025.
