Sony has announced a price increase for the PlayStation 5 consoles in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, effective from April 14. The company attributes this decision to the challenging economic conditions, including high inflation rates and fluctuating exchange rates. The new recommended retail prices were officially confirmed through a post on the PlayStation Blog.

Notably, the price of the PS5 Pro has not been altered.
This move follows similar price adjustments made in 2022, resulting in the PS5 becoming significantly more expensive in various regions compared to its initial launch prices. In Europe and the UK, the PS5 Digital Edition has risen by €100 and £70 respectively from its original price of €400 and £360. In Australia, the standard PS5 has increased by AUD $80 from AUD $750, while the digital edition has gone up by AUD $150 from AUD $600. In New Zealand, the standard PS5's price has climbed by NZD $130 from NZD $820, and the digital version has seen a NZD $210 increase from NZD $650.
On a different note, the RRP of the PS5 disc drive is actually being reduced to €80/£70/AUD $125/NZD $140.
