NateTheHate, a reputable leaker, confirmed the January 16th date on his podcast, citing anonymous sources. This aligns with Nintendo's history of using Thursdays for major announcements; the original Switch was teased on a Thursday in 2016. The Verge's Tom Warren independently corroborated this information.

Extensive Leaks Precede Official Reveal

While the possibility of a pre-announcement teaser on social media remains, similar to the original Switch launch, the sheer volume of leaks makes a surprise reveal unlikely. The extent of these leaks is such that Nintendo even commented on a Switch 2 replica, a rare acknowledgement of leaked information.

Rumors suggest a slightly larger console than the Switch OLED model (270 x 116 x 14mm) with an 8-inch LCD screen.
