Nintendo Switch 2 Unveiled: A Closer Look

A short teaser trailer, released January 16th, 2025, confirmed the existence of the Nintendo Switch 2. The trailer showcased a refined design while maintaining the hybrid functionality of its predecessor. Key improvements include a larger display, a more robust kickstand, and magnetically attaching Joy-Cons. A second USB-C port is also included on the console itself.

Backward Compatibility and Online Services

Nintendo confirmed backward compatibility, stating that both physical and digital Nintendo Switch games will be playable. However, they acknowledged that some titles might not be fully supported. Specific details regarding unsupported games will be released later on the Nintendo website. Nintendo Switch Online functionality will remain intact.

PT / 2:00 P.M. CT / 3:00 P.M. ET, closing January 26th, 2025, at 11:59 P.M. local time for each location. Selection is random, requiring a Nintendo Account.
