Skateboarding Returns: Console Playtesting for the New skate. Game Begins

Exciting news for console gamers! The highly anticipated skate., the latest installment in the popular Skate franchise, is now available for playtesting on Xbox and PlayStation consoles. While PC players have been enjoying test periods since mid-2022, this marks the first opportunity for Xbox and PlayStation users to experience a new Skate game in over 15 years.

The last mainline entry, Skate 3, launched in 2010. Despite a dedicated fanbase, EA seemingly shelved the franchise for a considerable period. However, persistent fan demand, fueled by the ubiquitous #Skate4 hashtag, ultimately led to the creation of a dedicated development team and the announcement of skate. Initially slated for early access in 2025, this console playtest represents significant progress.

Via the official skate. Twitter account, Xbox and PlayStation players can now participate in the playtest through the skate. Insider program (registration required). A recent video featuring developers offered a glimpse into the development process, confirming additions like more Black hairstyle options, and playfully addressing the "Fall 2024" playtest announcement.

Confirmed as a free-to-play, live-service game, skate. is set in the fictional city of San Vansterdam, a work-in-progress inspired by various real-world and in-game locations. While a map leak surfaced in 2023, its current state likely differs significantly. Fans can either join the playtest or patiently await the game's wider release.

Other Skate Games to Enjoy in the Interim

While an early access launch in 2025 is planned, delays are always a possibility. To tide fans over until skate.'s official release, several other skateboarding games offer enjoyable alternatives.
