Launching September 26th, Marvel’s Spider-Man will be the second fully draftable, Standard-legal set in Magic's Universes Beyond line after Final Fantasy, and the third overall. Unlike what some might expect, there are no preconstructed Commander decks. However, the cards within the Scene Box (pictured above) are specifically designed for Commander play and will not be Standard-legal.
This marks Magic's first full set inspired by Marvel comics, following last year's Secret Lair featuring Wolverine and Captain America. Wizards of the Coast Executive Producer, Max McCall, explains the decision to create a full set: "Spider-Man needs a full set to do justice to the character and incorporate the many villains he’s faced." A smaller product simply wouldn't accommodate the vast Spider-Man universe.
McCall notes that designing for Universes Beyond requires a different approach. While typical Magic sets build their worlds from scratch, most players are already familiar with Spider-Man. This allows for more complex card mechanics, focusing on recognizable moments that resonate with fans.

He explains Spider-Man's alignment with white, blue, and green, citing his sense of responsibility, scientific aptitude, and animalistic powers.
Beyond the Scene Box, the set includes Play Boosters, Collector Boosters, Bundles, and the return of Welcome Decks – introductory decks for new players. This follows the recent announcements of the Avatar: The Last Airbender set, and upcoming sets in Tarkir: Dragonstorm and Edge of Eternities.
