DC's Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow Commences Filming; First Look at Milly Alcock Revealed
Production has officially begun on DC's highly anticipated film, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, starring Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon) as Kara Zor-El. DC Studios head James Gunn shared the news on Bluesky, along with a photo of Alcock in her director's chair – offering a sneak peek at the character.
Gunn expressed his excitement, confirming Craig Gillespie (Cruella, I, Tonya) as director, a fact previously reported last April. The film will be a largely faithful adaptation of Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Norgueira's acclaimed graphic novel of the same name. This standalone story centers on Ruthye Marye Knoll, an alien girl seeking Supergirl's aid in avenging her father's murder at the hands of the villain Krem. The graphic novel earned a 2022 Eisner Award nomination for "Best Limited Series."
The cast also includes Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem, Eve Ridley as Ruthye, David Krumholtz as Zor-El (Supergirl's father), Emily Beecham as Supergirl's mother, and the newly-cast Jason Momoa as Lobo.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow marks the second film in the rebooted DC Universe, following James Gunn's Superman movie slated for release this summer. Other projects in development include The Batman Part II (whose connection to the Gunn-led universe remains unclear) and a rumored Clayface film from Mike Flanagan.
