System Shock 2 Remaster Reborn with a New Name Release Date Reveal Coming Soon

Nightdive Studios announces the official rebranding of their project as System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster, promising a revitalized experience for fans and newcomers alike. This updated version will launch on PC (Steam & GOG), PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One & Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.

The official release date will be revealed on March 20, 2025, during the Future Games Show: Spring Showcase. This highly anticipated remaster brings the classic sci-fi RPG to a new generation of gamers.

Originally released in 1999, System Shock 2 redefined the survival horror RPG genre. This remaster aims to maintain the game's chilling atmosphere while enhancing it with modern graphics and improved technical performance.

Nightdive Studios, celebrated for their work on the System Shock franchise (including the 2013 System Shock 2 remaster and the recent System Shock remake), initially planned a simultaneous release with the System Shock remake. However, development delays led to a revised launch schedule.

The 2023 System Shock remake was critically acclaimed, receiving a Metacritic score of 78/100, a user score of 7.6/10, and a 91% positive rating on Steam. With the System Shock 2 remaster on the near horizon, fans can finally look forward to experiencing this updated classic.
