Due to unforeseen technical difficulties, the highly anticipated return of World of Warcraft's Plunderstorm event has been postponed. While Blizzard initially aimed for a relaunch before the end of January 14th, 2025, no new launch time has been announced.
Plunderstorm, a popular pirate-themed battle royale mode introduced during the Dragonflight expansion in 2024, was set to return with both original and new rewards. However, unexpected issues arose during the planned server maintenance, resulting in a delay beyond the initially extended eight-hour downtime.
Current Status:
What Players Can Do While Waiting:
World of Warcraft's regular servers are back online. Players can utilize this time to progress through various activities, including completing Siren Isle weeklies, participating in the Turbulent Timeways event, or engaging in other content within the game.
The delay appears to be related to new Plunderstorm features, such as the Plunderstore and an in-game event interface. Hopefully, these issues will be resolved swiftly.
Twitch Drops Still Active:
Despite the delay, the Plunderstorm Twitch Drops campaign remains active. Viewers can earn the Coward's Azure Target back transmog by watching four hours of any World of Warcraft Twitch stream before February 4th at 10 AM PST. The streamer does not need to be playing Plunderstorm.
