Weekly Challenges: New Mode in The Battle of Polytopia

The Battle of Polytopia has spiced things up with the launch of Weekly Challenges, offering a fresh and exciting twist to this beloved 4X strategy game. Let’s delve into what this means for players and how it can elevate your gaming experience.

It Was Random Before

The game has always been known for its element of randomness, with varying enemies, resources, and maps that keep each session unpredictable and thrilling. However, the latest free update introduces a more structured competitive environment.

With Weekly Challenges, every player faces the same map, tribe, and gameplay conditions. The goal? Achieve the highest possible score within 20 turns. You get one shot at it each day, allowing for a maximum of seven attempts per week. This new feature also lets you experiment with tribes you might not own, as the game includes 16 tribes in total—four available in the base game and twelve that can be purchased for $1-4 each. In the Weekly Challenges, everyone competes with the same tribe, regardless of ownership.

Will Weekly Challenges Make The Battle of Polytopia More Exciting?

Absolutely, the Weekly Challenges are set to ramp up the excitement. Additionally, the update introduces a League system where all players start in the Entry League. Your performance each week determines whether you move up or down the leagues. The top third of players advance, the bottom third drop, and the middle group remains in place.

As you progress through the leagues, the difficulty level increases. Starting with Easy AI in the Entry League, you’ll face off against Crazy difficulty bots by the time you reach the Gold League. And don’t worry, if you miss a week, you won’t be demoted, but your ranking will adjust based on others’ performances.
