The Witcher 3 is set to receive another major update in 2025, introducing cross-platform mod support—a feature long-awaited by fans. This announcement was made during the celebration of the game’s 10th anniversary, marking a significant milestone for the beloved RPG. CD Projekt confirmed that the update will enable mod compatibility across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, making it easier than ever to create, share, and enjoy mods for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

To access cross-platform mods, users will need a mod.io account linked to their CD Projekt Red account. While existing modding platforms remain functional, console players will require mod.io to explore the extensive library of user-generated content. It’s important to note that mods created for consoles must utilize tools like the game’s REDkit, which is available on PC.

This update breathes new life into a game that continues to captivate players worldwide, maintaining its status as one of the most beloved RPGs of all time. Since its release, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has sold an impressive 60 million copies globally, encompassing both the base game and the Game of the Year edition. This figure nearly matches the sales record for Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, which Todd Howard mentioned in a June 2023 interview with IGN.

Adam Badowski, co-CEO of CD Projekt, expressed pride in the achievement, emphasizing the game’s impact on millions of players globally. He also hinted at the future of the franchise, referencing the upcoming The Witcher 4, which is currently under development. With 422 of CD Projekt’s 730 developers dedicated to the project, the sequel is expected to release no earlier than 2027.
