The Blood of Dawnwalker: A Dark Fantasy RPG Unveiled
Rebel Wolves recently showcased their upcoming open-world dark fantasy action-RPG, The Blood of Dawnwalker, at a game reveal event. This narrative-driven game promises a unique experience.
Meet Coen, the Dawnwalker
Players embody Coen, a Dawnwalker—a being existing between human and vampire—in the fictional 14th-century world of Vale Sangora. Unlike typical protagonists, Coen is described as emotional and vulnerable. The reveal trailer shows him confronting Brencis, an ancient vampire controlling Vale Sangora, and embarking on a 30-day/30-night quest to save his family. While the game features a time constraint, the developers emphasize significant playtime flexibility. Coen's abilities include superhuman agility and occult magic, hinting at a compelling gameplay loop.
Dawnwalkers and Occult Magic
The game's FAQ clarifies that Dawnwalkers are not simply hybrids but a unique entity. The magic system, while present, is grounded in the occult, focusing on rituals, amulets, and summonings rather than flashy spells.
A Narrative Sandbox
The Blood of Dawnwalker offers a narrative sandbox experience, prioritizing player agency and freedom. While the overarching goal is clear, players will have numerous paths to achieve it, resulting in a non-linear storyline and a dynamic world affected by their choices. To maintain this single-player focus, there will be no multiplayer or co-op. However, romanceable characters, including various races like uriashi and kobolds, are planned to enrich Coen's journey.
Developed by former CD Projekt Red developers, The Blood of Dawnwalker is slated for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, though a release date is yet to be announced.
